In this exhilarating photograph, we find my friend Adalayde fully immersed in the challenge of CopperHead (V10) during an after-school climbing expedition to the captivating Secret Garden in Little Cottonwood Canyon. At the time, my own climbing achievements had reached a V4 level, making Adalayde attempt to conquer a V10 route all the more awe-inspiring. As I observed her climb, I couldn't help but be amazed at her determination and skill. The V10 route posed a formidable test, with minuscule holds and delicate moves. Adalayde tenacity was on full display as she clung to the tiniest edges, inching her way up the problem. To capture this extraordinary moment, I ventured around the back side of the boulder and leaned over the precipice, positioning myself to take the perfect shot.
